It was certainly a great privilege to be chosen as venue for one of the regular meetings of diocesan priests, our Marian Friary of Our Lady, Queen of the Angels in Kauswagan, Cagayan de Oro. It brings our community in close collaboration with the work of the local churches and with the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro in general. This has been one of the ideal tasks envisioned by St. Francis for his friars– to offer auxiliary work with the local clergy and the bishop.
The priests in attendance last July 4 from St. Jerome Vicariate of Cagayan de Oro were: Msgr. Rey Monsato, head of the vicariate, Msgr. Text Legitimas, Assistant, Fr. Joel Oga, Fr. Elvin Semene, Fr. Froilan of the Blessed Sacrament Fathers, Fr. Ronald of the Scalabrinian Fathers, Fr. Bogs Valmores and Fr. Dan Coronel.
Not quite a long time ago, Fr. Maximilian Ciar began offering regular services when requested, to their local parish, St. Isidore Parish Church by way of sacraments, the Eucharist and reconciliation. But due to the busy life of diocesan clergy, religious usually provides opportunity for the faithful of the parish spiritual direction and counseling. This extended spiritual services, which are deemed difficult in some diocesan clergy due to the lack of proportion between the number of priests and the faithful, the religious provide in deepening the faithful’s spiritual life.
May the collaboration between the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate and the local clergy continue to be blessed for their common goal of extending the Kingdom of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus to all men.
