The Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate of Mary Coredemptrix Church, Brgy San Felipe launched a First Saturday monthly devotion: “A Saturday with Mary.” Catholic Tradition always considers Saturday as a Marian day. But every First Saturday of the month in honor of Mary became prominent because of the request of Our Lady of Fatima to establish devotion to her Immaculate Heart on the First Five Saturdays of the month.
It is in view of heeding Mary’s request that the friars organize this monthly “Marian Day”. The day begins at 8:30 in the morning and ends towards 4:30 in the afternoon. The day comprises of film showing on Our Lady of Fatima, short procession and crowning of the Blessed Virgin Mary, recitation of the Holy Rosary, Marian Talk/Conference, Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and Confessions; clothing of Brown Scapular and imposition of Miraculous medals.
It is truly a Marian moment when people have opportunity to participate partly or the entire day depending on their availability. But it is surely an opportunity to bring Mary deeply into our lives, and through her, Jesus’ Kingdom will reign.
